About Us

The Practice was founded in 1985 by A Edwin Bryant DipArb FRICS FCIArb FFB, following thirteen years in partnership in the Truro area. Edwin continues to head the team of Associates and Secretarial staff. The Practice Associates include: John Ormandy, CIOB C.eng C tech, Hugh Pengelly and Ross Harrison. Also our association with the Practices enables us to undertake large projects within reasonable time scales.

Whilst expanding our service and geographical working area we aim at providing the highest professional standards with a flexible response both to the needs of Clients and to the continuing advances of technology and construction procedures. We have worked on all aspects of Building and Civil Engineering contracts.

The Principal has acted as an independent and joint Expert Witness, Arbitrator and Adjudicator in numerous building disputes and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He has also sat on various committees of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and, currently, is the Vice Chairman of the Western Counties Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

The Practice also provides a Planning Supervisor service in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994 and a Party Wall Surveyor service if required.

The Practice is conscious of the need to provide customers with a quality service and to this end, a quality system conforming to ISO 9001: 1987 and EN 29001, 1987 is operated.

The practice is also a member of the Association for Environmentally Conscious Building and is a firm supporter of ecologically sound and sustainable building methods. Recent projects have involved photo-voltaic cells, geothermal energy, heat pumps, straw bale and cob construction. We have also supervised several heritage projects involving use of traditional methods of construction and repair.

Continuing professional development (CPD) is undertaken by all staff to ensure that up to date methods, practices, legal and statutory changes are implemented.
